[19a-C310-8] Size of ions and periodicity of friction on surface studied by computer simulation

Yasuhiro Senda1 (1.Yamaguchi Univ.)

Keywords:SPM, computer simulation, friction

We investigate dependence of ionic size on periodicity of friction force of FFM using atomic-scale computer simulation, in which the atomic model for NaCl surface is coupled with the model of cantilever of FFM. Under the low normal load, the periodicity of friction with lattice constant of NaCl is obtained as observed in experiments. Under the higher load, however, different periodicity with distance between Na cation and Cl anion exhibits. In presentation, we also show results of NaF surface comprising the same radius ions, and discuss how the ionic radius effects on the periodicity of friction.
