Keywords:chalcogenide glass, glass formation, thermal stability

Chalcogenide glasses based on S, Se, Te has high transparency in infrared region, so it is expected application for infrared optical materials. Especially, tellurium-based glasses transmit far infrared region beyond λ=25 μm, but thermal stability versus crystallization is poor and glass network structure is not well-known. This study purpose to improve thermal stability and to discuss glass structure of tellurium-based glasses. Therefore, we add Sn, Sb, Bi to Ga-Ge-Te system which is reported vitrification and investigate various properties. Samples is prepared in pseudoternary GaTe3-GeTe4-M (M=Sn, Sb, Bi) system. As the result, composition of 40GaTe3•60GeTe4+10M vitrified at M=Sn, Sb, Bi. At composition of 40GaTe3•60GeTe4+20M, M=Sb, Bi devitrified but M=Sn vitrified.
