Since sulfide glass, which is one of the chalcogenide glass systems, has excellent infrared transmission in the near- and mid-infrared regions, it is expected to be applied for infrared optical systems such as surveillance cameras and remote sensing spectrometers. On the other hand, it is difficult to determine the absorption edge at the short wavelength side because glass has an amorphous structure. Therefore, quantitative and standard methods to determine the absorption edge have not been shown.
In this study, we examined estimation of absorption edge. The direct transition and indirect transition wear calculated according Tauc equation. And the absorption edge was evaluated from the thickness dependence of Tauc gap.
