[20a-E319-4] Strain effects on spin states of MnAs monolayer on GaAs(110)

We have studied strain effects on spin states of MnAs monolayer on GaAs(110) surface. Structural stabilities and electronic/magnetic properties has been calculated by first-principles calculations based on the spin-density functional theory. Evaluating the energy difference between ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic states for Mn atoms aligning along the [110] direction, the ferromagnetic coupling is stable than the antiferromagnetic one, and the most stable at +3% strain.
