Recently, agricultural and medical applications of non-equilibrium atmospheric pressure plasmas have been studied. In applying plasma, it is important to understand the reaction mechanism between oxygen and nitrogen based active species generated by plasma and cell membranes. Previous studies have reported that E. coli is inactivated by phenylalanine solutions treated with radicals. In this study, we investigated the effect of phenylalanine solution treated with oxygen radical in plasma on the fluidity of lipid bilayer membrane.
