[20p-E202-15] Control of the crystallization-induced emission of azobenzene derivatives

Kosuke Yokoyama1, Yamauchi Mitsuaki1, Masuo Sadahiro1 (1.Kwansei Gakuin Univ.)

Keywords:azobenzene, crystallization-induced emission

Azobenzene is expected to be applied to stimuli responsive materials because of the well-defined photoisomerization by photoirradiation with ultraviolet or visible light. However, as most of the excited energy is used for the photoisomerization, the observation of well-defined emission from azobenzene is still challenging. In this study, we synthesized azobenzene-pyrene dyad 1 and found that the crystallization induced an orange emission from azobenzene.
