For future fusion plasma diagnostics, we have developed a 48-μm and 57-μm CH3OD laser pumped by 9R(8) CO2 laser. The far-infrared (FIR) laser device is a twin type having two laser tubes (probe light and local light) for application to heterodyne interferometry. In this study, we have stabilized the output and beat frequency of the two-color FIR laser by reducing the return of the pump light with an optical isolator.
