[20p-E208-19] Clarification of Refractive Index Variation for Plasmonic Metasurface with Sub-nm Gaps

Keywords:metasurface, sub nm gap, time-dependent density functional theory

Optical properties of plasmonic metasurfaces where the distance between constituent metallic nanoparticles is less than a nanometer are investigated applying a quantum theory, the time-dependent density functional theory, to a jellium model. It was found that the optical response of metasurfaces changes much from that by the classical electromagnetism when the distancees between nanoparticles become less than 0.2 nm. We explore the origin of the difference in view of the electronic structures. We will also report a progress of our investigation of their nonlinear optical response.
