In an effort to increase accuracy of plasma modeling and increase understanding of the EEDF, a computational method is created to determine the EEDF of non-equilibrium atmospheric pressure argon plasma using the continuum emission spectrum originating from electron-atom bremsstrahlung.
A genetic algorithm is used to reconstruct the EEDF from emissivity data, where the initial population will be constructed from random data and inherent properties of known EEDF are used as base fitness functions. The capability of obtaining an accurate EEDF is demonstrated and currently it is considered possible to accurately determine the EEDF by continuum spectrum analysis using a genetic algorithm.
