Transparent solar cell with ability to transmit visible light and absorb ultraviolet light which harmful to the human body and convert it into electric power has drawn attention recently. However, even if ultraviolet light is efficiently absorbed and carriers are generated, the proportion of ultraviolet light in sunlight is only 6%. In order to fabricate a highly efficient transparent solar cell, structural improvement of the pn junction will be required. Therefore, in this study, a pn junction was fabricated by using ZnO nanorods for the transparent n-type semiconductor and filling the gap with a transparent p-type semiconductor CuBr1-xIx (CuBrI). Prepared sample was evaluated by, transmission spectrum, scanning electron microscope (SEM), and IV measurement. It was found from the transmission spectrum that the transmittance is about 70%. In addition, the observed exciton absorption suggest that CuBrI could be deposited. From the results of SEM, it was found that the length of ZnO nanorods was 1.3 μm. From the results of the IV measurement, the rectification characteristics of the prepared transparent microstructure pn junction sample has been observed.
