Thienoquinoids having electron-withdrawing groups are interesting building units for organic electronic materials since they offer deep frontier molecular orbital energy levels. We have recently reported that π-conjugated polymers based on thienoquinoids with the carbonyl group showed very small bandgap of around 1 eV, deep LUMO energy levels, and ambipolar properties. Here, we synthesized two π-conjugated polymers based on isomeric bithiophenediones, PSP4T and PBTD4T. We will show the electronic properties, thin film structures, and organic field-effect transistor performances of these polymers. We will also discuss in detail how the isomeric structure impacts these polymer properties.
