Relationship between crystal structure and physical properties of the organic semiconductor thin-film is an important factor to improve the performance of the organic semiconductor devices. In this study, we synthesized asymmetric alkylated quaterthiophenes (C8-Cn-4T) for investigation of effects of alkyl chain length on growth modes and crystal structures. d-Spacing of them increased with increasing the alkyl chain lengths. It is suggested that those molecules form periodic structure of one molecular layer.
