τ-phase is Mn-based ferromagnetic alloy with high uniaxial magnetic anisotropy. However, the ferromagnetic τ-phase is metastable phase. It is difficult to obtain the pure τ-phase. On the other hand, τ-phase was stabilized by application of magnetic field in 15 T. However, τ-phase did not become stable phase. In this study, magnetic field effects on phase stability of τ-phase were investigated. The Al-Mn phase diagrams under magnetic fields were calculated by the CALPHAD method taking account of Zeeman energy E using Thermo-Calc software. The magnetization of τ-phase was calculated on the basis of mean-field theory.The calculated Al-Mn phase diagram in magnetic field shows the τ-phase at 1000 T.
