レーザーは，加工，切断，溶接，クリーニング，マーキングなど様々な分野で利用されている．照明光としても応用することが可能であり，筆者らは短パルスレーザーを照明光に用いて，レーザー加工現象や放電加工現象の観察をしてきた．レーザーアブレーション現象について，ポンプ-プローブ撮影，および，著者らが開発した高速度レーザーストロボビデオ撮影による可視化の事例を紹介する．
