Surface structure data analysis was carried out for the total-reflection high-energy positron diffraction experiment.
We constructed, on supercomputers, a two-stage analysis method with (i) the global search on multi-resolution grid and (ii) the local search with the local optimization near the minimum grid points by the Nelder-Mead method. Preliminary result is reported for the known structure of rutile TiO2(110)-(1x1) as an example. The mathematical method is general and applicable to other experiments.
