On an electric double-layer capacitor (EDLC), electric charge is accumulated at the electrode surface and developing a novel electrode with high surface area is required to improve its capacity. Carbon nanotube (CNT) is a promising candidate for EDLC electrodes owing large specific surface area and high electrical conductivity. In this study, we synthesize vertically-aligned CNT on a Cu substrate and evaluate its capacity. The CNT-modified Cu electrode showed 26 times higher capacity than Cu electrode without CNT modification.
