[11p-M135-4] Atomic-scale analysis of interaction between a near-field and a single-molecule:
Toward optical manipulation of a single molecule
Keywords:scanning tunneling microscopy, near field, single molecule
It has been well-recognized that a nanoscale gap of noble metals forms localized modes of surface plasmon (LSP). However, because of the extremely small size of the LSP, the details of interaction between LSP and matters have not been unveiled by conventional techniques. In this seminar, we present our recent results of atomic-scale investigation of the LSP-matter interaction using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), which would be a basis for realizing optical tweezer manipulation of a single molecule. We describe the LSP-matter interaction especially focusing on the polarization and spatial distribution of the LSP.
