Keywords:color center

The brown material found on the surface of Jupiter's satellite Europa was detected by a probe Galileo and this identity has been discussed. The new hypothesis was proposed that it was irradiated NaCl. In the Jovian magnetosphere, a plasma sheet that changes from moment to moment is formed, and accelerated electrons are thought to collide with the surface of Europa. We have newly developed a low temperature pulsed electron beam irradiation and color center detection apparatus to simulate the radiation environment of Europa around 100 K. Test results will be presented.
