“Engineering Science Laboratory I” in Chubu Univ. is one of the classes for the 1st degree students of the College of Engineering. This class was organized in April 2013 in order for inexperienced students to develop interest in the experiment and experience in the manufacturing. We also constructed “the Chubu Univ. Astronomical Observatory” in May 2017 in Kasugai Campus, Aichi, and started to develop the method for the educational experiment associated with the astronomical observatory. Therefore, we have developed an optical experiment by putting some pieces of acrylic plates (bars) together to design the Fresnel lens. Here, we will present manufacturing of the acrylic bars by ourselves. We have succeeded to make an optically smooth surface on a cutting-plane of acrylic bars and are developing how to achieve a good cutting-plane angle.
