In conventional transmission type spectrometers, spectral observation is difficult especially for low school children, since the incident slit direction is shifted by the diffraction angle from the observation direction of the spectrum. In this study, a spectroscopic element (grism) combining a triangular prism and a transmission type diffraction grating, which is easily available at a relatively low cost, was designed, and a direct view type spectrometer having a matching light source direction and spectral observation direction was prototyped.
