By filling up the sea area with Au in the Au sea-island structure, we found that gaps are automatically fabricated between the sea and islands by surface tension of Au, in which width of the gaps becomes typically <10 nm. Raman scattering spectroscopy measurement of the novel Au nanostructure exhibited an increased Enhancement Factor up to the order of 109, larger by 2 orders of magnitude than the conventional dispersed metal sea-island structure giving the order of 107.
