[11p-W621-10] Synthesis of new nanocarbons from Li₂C₂

Synthesis of new nanocarbon was attempted by the reaction of Li2C2 with I2 in a sealed vacuum tube. The reaction is Li₂C₂+I₂→2LiI+C. XRD showed peaks corresponding to rare carbon allotrope C₈. From TEM image, grafitic form structure with 10~20 nm size was observed.
