C₆₀ nanowhiskers(C₆₀NWs) are one of the fullerene crystals. The C₆₀ crystals are known to be fragile because the C₆₀ molecules in the crystal are bound by weak van der Waals forces. C₆₀NWs are also fragile and easily broken in the air however, they are very flexible and exhibit large elastic deformation in the solution. In fact, such remarkable elastic bending studies in moleculer crystals are very few.In this study, we succeeded in growth of C₆₀NWs which exhibit large elastic deformation even in air.
