Recently, photonic implementations of artificial neural networks (ANNs) have been explored for future information processing. Among ANNs, those based on reservoir computing (RC), which is a recurrent neural network (RNN) framework, are highly suitable for photonic implementations. Here, we demonstrate a hierarchical photonic RC scheme to exploit the potential of photonic RC.
