Pi-conjugated system has attracted as not only optical materials but also next generation of organic electronic materials. It is a key issue to control of molecular alignment for developing high-performance electronic devices. Recently, photo-manipulation of the liquid-crystalline (LC) alignment has much attention due to high spatial resolution and remote manipulation. Especially, dye-doped LC system exhibit significantly enhanced photoinduced reorientation behavior compared to undoped LC system. In this study, we investigated photoalignment behavior of oligothiophene derivatives with pyrrolopyrrole backbone in LCs to develop high-performance electronic devices by light.
