[9a-PA3-10] Thermodynamic interpretation of a Sensitized Thermal Cells
Keywords:power generation, non-equilibrium, transient
Sensitized Thermal Cells (STCs) is a new device that generates electricity using chemical reactions and thermally excited charges of semiconductors. Although this system has been confirmed power generation and self-recovery ability in a state exposed to a certain external temperature, the detailed mechanism has not been elucidated. Therefore, in this research, we focused on power generation mechanism of STCs. Specifically, a combination of "low bandgap semiconductor", "redox electrolyte" and "counter electrode" was used to prepare a chemical cell, and the output time characteristic was evaluated. In addition, we tried to interpret the mechanism of motion of this system from an electrochemical and thermodynamic point of view.
