We prepared charge transfer crystals (CTCs) of TTF-TCNQ with nanorods and nanorods-coated-rhombic structure using the two-step reprecipitation method. TTF-TCNQ nanorods were formed regardless of the injection order of the solutions whereas nanorods coated rhombic microcrystals were only formed by injecting the TTF/THF solution to the TCNQ particle dispersion. It was concluded TTF-TCNQ CTC was grown from the rhombic TCNQ crystal because of its high crystallinity. We believe that the core-shell CTC will contribute to more deeply understanding the interaction between CT crystals, and proposed process could be applied for numerous CT materials to realize new opto-electrical properties and phenomena.
