In 2017, we have numerically demonstrated a metasurface modualtor operating at near-infrared wavelength. In this work, we fabricated a proof-of-concept device and experimentally demonstrate 5-MHz EO modulation at 1630 nm wavelength. By optimizing the fabrication and poling condition, the device performance can largely improved and can be used for various applications, such as optical interconnects and high-speed imaging.
