[9p-W641-7] A Study from Optical Aspect on the Relation Between the M-charts and deviation of Refraction Light by Wrinkle Wall on Internal Limiting Membrane around macular

The light entering an eye passes through the pupil and is refracted on the surface of retina (ILM), and is received by photoreceptors.
On the other hand, in epi retinal membrane patients, wrinkled walls are formed on the ILM and metamorphopsia is occurred by them.
In this study, it was hypothesized that metamorphopsia occurs from the refraction phenomenon of light caused by these wrinkled walls. The refraction light was estimated using Snell's law, and M chart which is a subjective examination was used for metamorphopsia. We evaluated the deviation on two lines passing through the fovea vertically and horizontally, and examined the relationship between these.
Results were as below.
・The deviation of ERM patients is larger than that of normal significantly.
・It might have possibility that this deviation causes metamorphopsia.
・The "estimated M value" that can be calculated from the OCT images and is quantitative, might have possibility to get to alternative to the current M value.
