[10a-Z28-4] Electrostatic Carrier Doping to Graphene in the Absence of Electrode Contacts
Keywords:field-effect doping, surface charge transfer, charge carrier reservoir
Field-effect doping is a method for electrostatically doping charge carriers. This kind of doping methods requires a charge carrier reservoir. In the case of FETs, the source/drain electrodes serve as the reservoir. In addition to the electrodes, adsorbates that induce charge transfer should also serve as the reservoir. We have investigated the possibility of adsorbates as the reservoir by using a field-effect doping method that requires no electrodes. This doping method exploits a local electric field generated by polar SAMs formed on substrate surfaces. We have found that the adsorbates indeed serve as the reservoir by inspecting the carrier concentration doped by the SAM-based method.
