Evaluation of engine oil degradation is possible with a shear horizontal surface acoustic wave (SH-SAW) sensor. In this paper, we experimentally discussed the influence of the sensor frequency. To explain the experimental results, it is necessary to consider the effective permittivity, because water and other particles, which have a high dielectric constant, located on the sensor surface.
