We have revealed that the hydrogen boride (HB) sheet can be synthesized by ion-exchange in magnesium diboride (MgB2). HB sheets release their hydrogen as H2 molecules by heating in a wide temperature range. Theoretical calculations have reported that the bond between H and B weakens due to electron doping, so the hydrogen desorption temperature can be expected to be lowered by the electron doping. In this work, we synthesized and evaluated carbon doped (C-doped) HB sheets by using C-doped MgB2 as a starting material.
