We are developing a bifacial multi-junction amorphous Si solar cell as an independent power source for IoT devices. In the previous Meeting, we reported that 1 cm square sextuple- and quintuple-junction solar cells have been fabricated on flat ITO/glass and ITO/polyimide substrates, respectively, and 4 V and 3.2 V or larger open-circuit voltages have been obtained at 3000 lux bifacial LED illumination. In this work, by suppressing the leak current with the thinner n-type layers, FF of the cells have been increased and the degradation of open-circuit voltages under low illumination has been reduced. 2 cm square sextuple-junction solar cells have been fabricated on a polyimide film and showed the similar performance to those on a glass substrate.
