[8a-Z04-13] Measurement of friction force acting on charged microparticles in DC glow discharges (II)
Keywords:Coulomb crystal, microparticle, friction
Negatively charged microparticles were levitated in a DC discharge. Applying a sinusoidal force to the particles, we obtained the plots of amplitude of the forced oscillation against the angular frequency. The resonance angular frequency and the friction coefficient were obtained by simulating the plots. In addition, we made the charged particles falling down in the free space region and measured the time dependence of the falling velocity of the charged particles. As a result, a teminal velocity was estimated experimentally.
