2-4-6-Trichloroanisole(TCA) is the causative agent of the moldy odor with a very low sensory threshold. TCA is usually present in packaging materials and corks and is a source of food and wine contamination. It is difficult to remove TCA nondestructively in natural cork and the contamination problem has not been solved. In this study, we investigated the effect of ECR plasma irradiation on TCA-installed cork. Non-toxicity, no chemical residue concerns, and low thermal damage are the characteristics of plasma.
