[8p-Z29-3] The effect of noble metals mixed with iron particle catalyst on the synthesis of vertically aligned carbon nanotube under non-reducing ambient

Keywords:Carbon nanotube

We have reported an effect of the noble metals addition into iron catalyst enabling the synthesis of vertical array of long CNTs in helium ambient without hydrogen. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analyses suggested the reduction of iron nanoparticle even without any reducing gas when noble metal atoms showing metalic electronic status coexist with iron. Unexpectedly, the above effect
was confirmed even when the amount of noble metals are quite small (less than 0.5 at%). This work was partially supported by JSPS KAKENHI Grant Number JP17K14090.
