We propose a mid-infrared optical phase shifter based on Ge₂Sb₂Te₅ (GST), which is one of the most common phase change materials, taking advantage of the fact that the optical absorption of GST in the mid-infrared region is smaller than that in the near-infrared region. We experimentally demonstrate the reduction of the optical absorption of GST in the mid-infrared region.
