The purpose of this study is development of an all-fiber and all-optical sampling technique for an ultrashort pulse. We had demonstrated the all-optical sampling of a ps pulse using a nonlinear optical phenomenon of pulse trapping in a nonlinear optical loop mirror (NOLM). In this paper, we experimentally investigated the pulse trapping in the NOLM. We compared the reconstructed pulse of signal pulse using our sampling technique with the auto-correlation trace of the signal pulse using an auto-correlator. The pulse width of the reconstructed pulse corresponds to that of the signal pulse at the polarization beam combiner for the coupling of the signal pulse and the control pulse in the NOLM.
