[13a-A301-7] Application of Thermoelectric Energy Harvesting

Hirokuni Hachiuma1 (1.KELK Ltd.)

Keywords:thermoelectric generation

The thermoelectric conversion has long been a niche technology, especially in power generation. However, it has a great feature. The smaller the thermoelectric module, the more competitive it is. It is because the structure is simple and easy to miniaturize, and there is little dimensional dependence of performance. With this feature in mind, we are developing applications for thermoelectric power generation in the following categories: (1) waste heat recovery applications at the kW level, (2) independent power supply applications at the W level, and (3) energy harvesting below the mW level.
As the thermoelectric application of energy harvesting, I describe a case of predictive maintenance of equipment by the batteryless/wireless sensor.
