Since an individual carbon nanotube (CNT) exhibits outstanding mechanical properties, CNTs provide a rich potential for the use of light-weight strong cables. We have demonstrated a one-step method to fabricate strong CNT fibers using pore-fields of Honeycomb ceramics (breaking stress: ~6.8 GPa). In this study, we will show the fabrication of narrow-diameter CNTs by tuning honeycomb pores less than 1mm. Our fuild analysis reveals that reaction gases are accelerated inside the hoenycomb pores. Based on the simulation, we propose a growth mechanism accompanying elongation of individual CNTs induced by shear force of accelerated gases.
