Recently, we synthesized Cu layer on ceramics substrates with Cu-ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) solution by ignition process. The EDTA forms stable, water-soluble metal chelates with metal ions of valency two or above at metal-to-EDTA ratio of 1:1. The ignition process proceeds decomposition of EDTA to form metal or metal oxides. In this study, we attempted to synthesize Cu-Zn alloy using ignition process. The (Cu,Zn)-EDTA solutions with surfactant was used to deposit Cu-Zn alloy on polycrystalline Al2O3 substrates. Elemental distribution in depth direction and crystal structure analysis were conducted.
