We have developed a new device capable of performing soft X-ray spectroscopy under atmospheric pressure by introducing He gas into a container using a free-standing thin film as a pressure partition. A SiN membrane window with a window size of 0.5 × 0.5 mm and a thickness of 100 nm was adhered to the end of the soft X-ray introduction pipe to form a pressure partition with the high vacuum side of the synchrotron radiation beam line. By using this apparatus, soft X-ray absorption spectroscopy of benzoic acid or the like having a high vapor pressure has become possible.
