Imaging techniques based on fluorescent proteins allow us to visualize dynamic localized and translocation of living cells’ molecules through in vivo imaging. Implantable fluorescence imaging devices enable monitoring of a rodent under free living condition because of their miniaturization potential, and low invasiveness. As a light source, a μLED is suitable for such devices. However, wide emission spectrum of LEDs reduces the fluorescence imaging performance. In this study, we report on the fabrication and characterization of a miniature light source with excitation filter suitable for implantable fluorescence imaging devices.
