[14p-PA1-18] Detection of magnetic interfacial effects originated from heavy metal using magneto-optical effect

We aim to evaluate the value of DMI originated from the interface of the magnetic layer / heavy metal layer using the magneto-optical effect. We measured and calculated the Kerr rotation angle and ellipticity of Pt/GdFeCo and Cu/GdFeCo samples. Measured and calculated spectra of the sample of Cu/GdFeCo are good agreements. However, the measured spectra are different from the calculated spectra. This difference is caused by the interface effect originated from the large spin-orbit interaction of Pt.
