To overcome the increase of the computation latency, we have been investigating the component and circuit technology for photoelectric accelerators for more than 5 years. In this talk, we summarize the method of “photonic pass-gate logic” based on the optical signal transmission in the circuits and the pioneering photonic digital adder. We also introduce photonic logic gates and digital/analog converters based on linear optics, and nonlinear optical gates based on cutting-edge nanophotonic technology. Finally, we briefly mention the future prospects the possibility of photonic neural networks based on our techniques.
