Towards efficient optical analog input generation for photonic neural network applications, we propose a new configuration for optical IQ modulation that realizes both low-loss and low-noise characteristics with better scalability. This configuration performs the bit weighting process by cascaded linear optical gates with 6-dB better efficiency than the conventional ones for the case of 256QAM format. This configuration is also important for operation power reduction of optical transmitters.
