Targeting at the generation of soft X-ray beyond water window using high harmonic generation scheme, we developed a mid-infrared optical parametric amplifier (OPA) system based on Yb:KGW sources. Supercontinuum generation and subsequent in-line difference frequency mixing result in a pulse train with central wavelength around 2 um with a passively eliminated carrier-envelope phase. It is then amplified by a 2-stage OPA using BiBO crystals, resulting in a maximum pulse energy of approximately 50 uJ at a wavelength range of 1800-2500 nm. By proper transmission through dispersive mediums, the pulse width is compressed down to 30 fs, close to the Fourier limit.
