In order to achieve highly efficient water splitting in photocatalytic reactions using sunlight, photocatalysts responsive to visible light are necessary. We focused on Y2Ti2O5S2 oxysulfides, a visible light responsive photocatalyst. We aim to realize stable and highly efficient water splitting by creating photoelectrode devices using thin films of Y2Ti2O5S2 on substrates. In this study, the electronic structure of Y2Ti2O5S2 was analyzed using first-principles calculations and Y2Ti2O5S2 thin films were prepared by PLD method to control the O and S content.
