In recent years, up-conversion (UC) phosphors, which can excite near-infrared light to emit visible light, have been used in optogenetics to control cellular functions in the deep brain. However, in conventional deep photo-stimulation methods using UC phosphors, it is difficult to stimulate opsins at a cellular scale and control emission colors in the same area. In this study, we developed two-wavelength excited UC phosphors to overcome these difficulties and considered their capability to optogenetics in deep tissues.
