[11p-N302-3] Mechanical and electric properties of MoS2 nanoribbons under uniaxial strain

Using the density functional theory, we investigated mechanical and electric properties of MoS2 nanoribbons under the uniaxial strain in terms of their edge shapes. Our DFT calculations revealed that the ribbons with armchair and zigzag edges are robust against both compressive and tensile strains. In addition, the ribbon with zigzag edges showed the piezoelectricity under the strain, whose voltage is tunable by the strain directions.
